Wine Description

The Cosse Maisonneuve wine estate's Une de Mai cuvée is the fruit of 23 years of research and experimentation, aimed at finding the perfect match between grape varieties and terroirs. This unique wine is the result of a meticulous blend of old Malbec and Cabernet Franc grapes, grown on three distinct soil types that give it its complexity and balance.

Old malbec planted on acidic soils, resting on an Eocene bedrock, brings tension and freshness to the wine. Old Malbec from clay-gravel soils on the third terrace offer depth and a silky texture. Finally, old Cabernet Franc grown on a Kimmeridgian limestone plateau enriches the blend with great finesse and elegant structure.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Thanks to this unique combination of terroirs, Une de Mai is distinguished by a subtle alliance between the freshness and velvety texture of great Pomerol wines and the aromatic richness and amplitude of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This harmonious marriage gives birth to an exceptional wine, where power and delicacy express themselves with precision.

The nose is complex and captivating, revealing aromas of ripe black fruits such as blueberry and blackcurrant, mixed with spicy notes of black pepper, camphor and a subtle touch of sweet spices.

On the palate, the attack is ample and generous, reminiscent of the velvety texture of great Pomerol wines. The tannins are fine and silky, offering a harmonious structure. Black fruit flavors continue, accompanied by spicy nuances and a minty freshness that balances the whole.
