Wine Description

Located in the south-western part of the Rully appellation, the parcel from which Domaine de Villaine 's Rully 1er Cru Grésigny comes has been leased by the wine estate for almost 15 years, and is farmed biodynamically. Rooted in marl-limestone soils, the 80-year-old Chardonnay vines produce a wine of singular expression, combining aromatic concentration and mineral freshness.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: This Rully 1er Cru Grésigny from Domaine de Villaine is a top-class white wine, combining aromatic richness and mineral tension. To be enjoyed now after aeration, or cellared for harmonious evolution over the next 5 to 10 years.

Complex, characterful aromas combine citrus, yellow fruit and white flowers with pastry notes and a delicate woody touch.

On the palate, full-bodied and unctuous, embracing the delicacy of fruity and vanilla aromas. The wine's structure is balanced, with well-integrated acidity. A slightly bitter minerality reminiscent of barrel ageing stretches the finish. An elegant 1er cru from the Côte Chalonnaise, which will appeal to lovers of precise, expressive Chardonnay.
