Wine Description

Domaine Huet 's Vouvray Sec Le Clos du Bourg comes from one of the oldest plots in the appellation. The first traces of this terroir being used to grow vines date back to the 19th century. This cuvée is therefore one of the oldest and most beautiful clos in the whole of Vouvray. It's a terroir with a large surface area, covering more than 6 hectares. Its soil is essentially composed of tuffeau, a typical Vouvray soil which is in fact a soft, porous limestone often used in the construction of great châteaux such as Château de Chambord.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Huet wine estate has always impressed me with the consistent quality of its wines. The Vouvray Sec Le Clos de Bourg is no exception. It impresses with its sophistication and aromatic complexity. The vines' south-facing exposure ensures perfect ripeness , and their proximity to the Loire River provides sufficient coolness and humidity. This wine was vinified by the famous and talented Noël Pinguet.

The nose expresses itself with intensity and strength. The minerality of the terroir comes through perfectly in this wine. There are also lightly smoky notes of pear, citrus, paprika and mirabelle plum.

The palate is full of energy, fresh, with a beautiful tension that lasts throughout the tasting and forms the backbone of the wine. Notes of citrus, spice and minerality (wet pebbles, gunflint). A great Loire wine that is a must-discover if you haven't already.
