Wine Description

Domaine Huet 's Vouvray Le Clos du Bourg Demi-sec embodies the refined elegance of Loire Chenin, grown on one of Vouvray's prestigious historic clos. Planted in 1953 on six south-facing hectares, the old Chenin vines of the Clos du Bourg biodynamic vineyard are planted on clay and tufa soils typical of the Loire Valley. The grapes are hand-harvested and selected in several passages to ensure optimum ripeness. After gentle pressing, fermentation begins spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in a mix of stainless steel vats and old barrels. Ageing lasts around six months on fine lees, giving the wine a silky texture without weighing down its profile. No new wood is used, to preserve the freshness and purity of the grape variety.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine Huet's Clos du Bourg Demi-sec is distinguished by a rare balance between generosity and tension. It offers an immediate impression of elegance, a subtle interplay between ripe fruit, light delicacy and chiseled precision. This is a wine that calls for careful tasting, expressing controlled maturity without being ostentatious.

On the nose, the cuvée seduces with concentrated aromas of citrus fruit and fruit paste, enhanced by a honeyed veil and hints of exotic fruit and white flowers. A delicate hint of green almond adds refined complexity.

On the palate, the attack is full, round and harmonious, supported by lively acidity that balances the sweetness. Full-bodied white fruit, reminiscent of stewed apple, meets a hint of heather honey and beeswax. On the midpalate, the discreet salinity of the terroir blends with a slightly bittersweet hint of apple seeds, seamlessly contrasting with the sweetness to provide structure and freshness. The finish lingers for a long time, with a precision and elegance that encourage prolonged tasting.
