Long description

The Huet wine estate was founded in 1928 by Victor Huet and his son Gaston. They both decided to settle in the still little-known terroirs of Vouvray. Passionate about viticulture and good wine, they devoted all their time and energy to building what is today the jewel in the crown of Vouvray vineyards.

The Huet family has vineyards on 3 very different terroirs in Vouvray. Haut-Lieu is mostly clay, Mont is flint, and Clos du Bourg is tuffeau. On these 3 types of soil, the king grape variety is Chenin, and the watchword is respect for nature. The quality of work at Domaine Huet has made it one of France's legendary wine estates. For the lucky few, you can still find wines from the 50's in a state of preservation unique for white wines. The diversity of the terroir, the care given to the vines and to winemaking, all combine to produce wines with exceptional ageing potential.

What each wine has in common is its minerality, precision and straightforwardness. The quality of the terroir and the talent of the winemakers make it possible to achieve harmony after a few years of ageing.

Indeed, when young, the wines are very closed and do not reveal their full potential, whether dry or sweet. You need to be patient and wait at least 4 to 5 years to begin to discover the complexity of the terroir, but it's best to keep them between 5 and 15 years to enjoy them at their peak drinking.

Today, Gaston Huet is still at the wine estate, accompanied by his son-in-law Noël Pinguet and his loyal employee Jean Bernard Berthomé. They work hand in hand to perpetuate the biodynamic practices begun in the 1980s.

The Domaine Huet is an emblematic name in the Vouvray region, and a must if you want to taste a true Vouvray de garde.
