Wine Description

La Grande Pièce is a 100% Pinot Noir cuvée produced on schist terroirs by the brilliant Thierry Michon. The vines, over 30 years old, face southwest and benefit from a microclimate conducive to grape ripeness. Yields are among the lowest on the wine estate. On the best vintages, yields are just 15 hectoliters per hectare. A rare and exceptional cuvée produced only on the best vintages.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Grande Pièce cuvée is one of the wines that has surprised me most in my career as a sommelier. A 100% de-stemmed Pinot Noir with remarkable power and finesse. The schist terroir and biodynamic viticulture give this wine a singular energy. Aged in barrels for 18 months.

A great wine for laying down , to be enjoyed with meats of character such as Lamb or Pigeon.

On the nose, the wine reveals notes of cherries in brandy. There is a hint of leather, bitter cocoa and coffee. The aromatic expression is remarkably intense and continues to evolve as the wine oxygenates in the glass.

The palate is silky on the attack, then the power of the terroir expresses itself with race and strength. There are notes of leather, a touch of animal and coating tannins. All this culminates in a finish of slightly acid blackcurrant jam. Pure indulgence... Watch out for this great wine !
