The Langhe Nebbiolo from the E. Pira & Figli 's Langhe Nebbiolo comes from vines grown in the buffer zone around the Barolo vineyards. It is made from 100% Nebbiolo , the "noble" grape variety of Piedmont. This Langhe is a wonderful introduction to the style of Chiara Boschis' wines. A "little" Barolo that has nothing to be ashamed of in terms of intrinsic quality.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Langhe Nebbiolo produced by Chiara Boschis is one of Piedmont's most renowned wines. It has spent 14 months in French oak barrels and a minimum of 2 months in bottle before release. It's a wine with bewitching aromas that don't immediately reveal themselves when young. The complexity of its aromas brings it close to a fine Barolo.
On the nose, the wine opens with hints of violet, prune and lightly smoky notes. It evolves on aromas of black fruit and subtle floral notes.
The palate is racy, intense and enveloping. The tannins are clearly present, lending density and great depth to the whole. A magnificent Nebbiolo, very close to the complexity of a Barolo.
