Wine Description

Domaine Ganevat 's Chardonnay Champs Poids cuvée comes from theArbois area, where the Bajocian limestone soils give the vines planted in 1986 phenomenal depth. This terroir-driven Chardonnay , fashioned in the Burgundian style yet firmly rooted in the Jura, reveals as much chewiness and complexity as freshness.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The influence of terroir is clearly perceptible in this cuvée of Jean François Ganevat's Champs Poids Chardonnay , where the chalky dimension and freshness of the subsoil perfectly counterbalance the great ripeness of the grapes and the richness of the ageing on lees.

On the nose, the wine opens with aromas of ripe white and yellow fruit, fleshed out by remarkable pastry notes of nutty butter and warm brioche. But there's a real freshness to the nose that rules out any heaviness and promises a subtle tasting experience.

The palate is full-bodied, driven by the superb ripeness of the fruit, with a mineral tension that balances the unctuousness of the material and gives the wine constant energy. The empyreumatic flavors on the finish are made all the more appetizing by the saline, salivating tension.
