Wine Description
Domaine Michel Bouzereau 's Volnay 1er Cru "Les Aussy" is a masterpiece of finesse and elegance, representative of Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau's approach to Pinot Noir. Cultivated on a plot of just 0.18 hectares, this cuvée comes from vines over 60 years old, located in the lower part of the Volnay hillside, near the famous "Champans". The soil, rich in red earth loaded with iron oxides and limestone, gives the wine an exceptional balance of fruitiness, minerality and complexity.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Volnay 1er Cru "Les Aussy" is a wine of great balance, elegance and depth, the perfect embodiment of Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau's expertise and the quality of Volnay's terroirs.
On the nose, this Volnay reveals a refined floral bouquet of dried rose, peony, geranium and wild mulberry. This floral character is enhanced by bright red fruits: Morello cherry, redcurrant, strawberry and raspberry. Hints of spice, pink pepper, cinnamon and clove add complexity.
On the palate, the wine stands out for its silky texture, generous body and delicious acidity that energizes the whole. Fine, delicate tannins create a velvety sensation with persistent flavors of black cherry, crushed strawberry and raspberry coulis. The mid-palate, animated by spicy touches and light notes of coffee and licorice, bears witness to perfectly mastered ageing. The finish is long and elegant, with hints of smoke and acidity.
