Wine Description

Michel Bouzereau et Fils ' Bourgogne Clos du Moulin illustrates an expression rarely achieved in a regional appellation. This Chardonnay comes from a one-hectare plot at the foot of the hill, sheltered under the climates of Les Chevalières and Les Petits Charrons, in Meursault, behind the cellars of Domaine Albert Grivault. This clay-limestone soil gives rise to a dazzling wine, comparable to the crus of Meursault. After hand harvesting and natural fermentation, Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils mature this cuvée for a year in oak barrels, 15% of which are new, before a further 4 months in vats. This style of winemaking aims for clarity of fruit and balance in ageing to reflect the identity of this particularly high-quality terroir.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils' Bourgogne Clos du Moulin surpasses many a Meursault in depth and purity of expression. The precision of the ageing and the mineral energy of the material make this a wine of rare staying power for its appellation. Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils has produced a Burgundy of great precision, and above all, of great class!

The nose opens with floral notes of acacia and honeysuckle, mingling with the sweetness of fresh almond and the deliciousness of ripe white fruit. Clos du Moulin gradually reveals a more weathered dimension, marked by a touch of damp chalk and subtle noble wood.

On the palate, this impression of generosity continues, with a generous body and ripe white and yellow fruit flavors. The underlying minerality stretches the wine with beautiful sapidity towards notes of white pepper and chalk. The finish combines freshness and depth, with a spicy persistence.
