Michel Bouzereau et Fils ' Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières is a more exclusive side of the Meursault terroir. Between the Les Combettes and Les Perrières climats, this 0.52-hectare parcel lies on a limestone matrix that favors tension and aromatic precision. Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils grows old Chardonnay vines here, averaging around 40 years of age, deeply rooted in the very stony clay-limestone soils typical of Burgundy. To bring out the purity of the Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru terroir, the wine estate applies meticulous winemaking techniques. After hand-harvesting and spontaneous fermentation using indigenous yeasts, the wine is aged for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, about a quarter of which are new. This approach allows the wine to develop a refined texture and a natural balance between density and brilliance.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Meursault Genevrières Premier Cru from Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils is one of the discreet institutions not to be missed by Burgundy connoisseurs. Its precise structure and limpid expression give it a style of great purity, which the wine estate has raised to archetypal status over the years.

The nose reveals a bouquet particularly marked by an abundance of white flowers and noble herbs. Evolved aromas of creamy honey, fruit paste and lukewarm brioche emerge, while aeration reveals a magnificent spicy and mineral framework where white pepper, nutmeg and gunflint jostle one another.

The palate combines intensity and precision with extreme refinement. The ample volume and subtly oily texture settle in naturally, softened by an acidic tension that balances the material. Aromas of orchard fruits, citrus marmalade and refined spices accompany crystalline notes of chalk and gunflint. The minerality that lingers on the taste buds sets the tone for an interminable, incredibly sapid finish.
