Montcalmès “Le M” from Domaine de Montcalmès is a 100% Mourvèdre cuvée as exclusive as this grape variety is demanding. The vines are planted on various plots across the wine estate, on clay-limestone soils, lacustrine limestone, and rounded pebbles. The Mourvèdre vines are planted on northwestern- and southern-facing plots in Aniane, on a terroir of rounded pebbles reminiscent of that of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. These vines are neighbors to those of La Grange des Pères and Mas Daumas Gassac. This cuvée is one of the wine estate’s very rare, exclusive wines—alongside the Grenache and Chardonnay—produced depending on the vintage and not to be missed if you’re lucky enough to find it.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Le Montcalmès “Le M” from Montcalmès leaves no one indifferent. This cuvée is concentrated, elegant, and balanced, lending the wine great freshness and a lovely finish.

The nose unfolds a vibrant and deep aromatic palette, with a ripe and slender profile, featuring notes of wild black fruits, minty cocoa, as well as hints of smoke, cured meat, and sweet spices.

On the palate, it is crisp and elegant, with a tannic structure of great nobility. Concentrated and balanced, it offers plenty of freshness and a long finish. A rare Mourvèdre, built for aging, reserved for the most curious connoisseurs.
