Wine Description

Thierry Allemand’s Cornas Reynard is the culmination of a terroir and a man who seemed made for each other. With its intensely mineral and granitic soils, Reynard is one of the great terroirs of the northern Rhône—a plot that Thierry Allemand has cultivated with quiet devotion since the estate’s inception.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Thierry Allemand’s Cornas Reynard is one of those wines that, on its own, justifies a passion for northern Syrah. It’s hard to fathom how a red wine can possess such impressive concentration and such an imposing structure, while remaining so refined and silky.

The nose is superbly aromatic, with notes of Damascus plums, black raspberries, and Amarena cherries, Indian spices, and a hint of black olive. The bouquet is strikingly deep and complex, highlighted by a characteristic black pepper note—an immediate sign of a strong personality.

The palate is full-bodied and precise, offering a wave of perfectly ripe tannins and a finish of prodigious grace and length. The texture is velvety, the tannins exceptionally refined, and the rich fruitiness is supported by a refreshing, easy-drinking quality and subtly toasty notes.
