Wine Description

Domaine Thierry and Pascale Matrot 's Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière comes from the appellation's most renowned climate. Located at the southern tip of the Côte de Beaune, on southeast-facing clay-limestone slopes, this climate offers Pinot noir a balanced maturity, with marked structure, freshness and aromatic intensity. In this cuvée, the Matrot wine estate brilliantly brings out all the rich expression of this 1er cru.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: This Maranges 1er cru embodies the richness of Burgundian Pinot Noir on the La Fussière climate. True to the Domaine Matrot style, it is marked by elegant tannins and rich aromas. A few years in the cellar or light decanting in its youth will reveal the potential of this magnificent cuvée.

The nose opens with ripe black cherry, stewed raspberry, black pepper, blond tobacco and dry earth. The whole is expressive, with a beautiful intensity, always without excess.

On the palate, the attack reveals a full body carried by ripe tannins, whose firmness will lighten with time. The wine lengthens with flavors of black berries, licorice and pepper. The finish is concentrated and full-bodied, with a pleasantly smoky note. The whole is full-bodied, balanced by a silky acid framework.
