Wine Description
Domaine Tempier 's Bandol blanc is a proud representative of the Bandol appellation's discreet but essential white wine history. Made from parcels in the coolest, latest-ripening areas of the vineyard, including La Migoua, La Laidière and Le Petit Moulin, this wine is a model of balance in a demanding Mediterranean climate. The blend is based mainly on Clairette, complemented by Ugni blanc and southern grape varieties such as Bourboulenc, Vermentino (Rolle) and Marsanne, grown on clay-limestone terraced soils. These conditions enable slow, complete ripening, giving birth to a white Bandol that is both structured and fresh. Domaine Tempier has always practiced attentive organic viticulture, with hand harvesting and precise soil tillage to preserve the expression of Provence's terroirs. Total destemming of the grapes and cold maceration in stainless-steel vats preserve all their freshness, while 10 months' ageing in foudres refines the texture of this great white wine of Provence.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Far from any cliché of demonstrative power, the white Bandol from Domaine Tempier surprises with its freshness and balance. The selection of cooler plots and ageing in foudres preserve the wine's natural tension, while providing a solid foundation for several years' cellaring.
The nose is luminous from the outset, with expressive notes of fresh citrus fruit and white flowers. Mineral and slightly saline nuances add freshness to the bouquet.
The palate is supple and well-defined, with a persistent freshness that balances the natural richness of the Mediterranean climate. Flavors of citrus and white fruit stretch harmoniously over a mineral and saline framework.
