Domaine du Gringet (formerly Dominique Belluard) is a small wineestate located on the Ayse vineyard in the heart of the Arve Valley, between Chamonix and Geneva. It is a historic vineyard in the Savoyard region, with written records dating back to the 11th century. Dominique Belluard 's family settled here in the 1940s. At that time, mixed farming dominated, and the 10 hectares of land were planted with a variety of fruit trees.
Today, vines dominate the landscape, but quality winemakers are still all too rare. It's thanks to winemakers like Dominique Belluard, Gilles Berlioz and Dominique Lucas that the Savoyard wine landscape is changing for the better. They are in search of an authentic expression of terroir that proves the great value and quality of their vineyards.
This involves in-depth study of the soil, its diversity, the energies it releases and many other aspects that have both scientific and spiritual value. Because before being winemakers, they are lovers of their terroir, and their only battle is to preserve it.
Indeed, the Ayse terroir, like many others in Savoie , holds a treasure: the diversity of its soils. You can easily find limestone, yellow marl and red clay just a few meters away. It's this incredible geological complexity that produces such deep, luminous wines.
At the Gringet wine estate, however, we find a singularity found nowhere else, namely the Gringet grape variety , which remains the dominant one in production. In fact, they own half of the 20 hectares planted in the appellation.
All the vines are cultivated biodynamically, respecting the cycle of life. It was this osmosis between plant, animal and mineral that Dominique Belluard sought at all costs throughout his life.
The wines are impressively consistent, with great depth and remarkable vitalizing energy.
All the cuvées are absolutely fabulous, starting with his bubbles. We start with the "Les Perles du Mont Blanc" cuvée, followed by the extraordinary "Mont Blanc" cuvée.
The dry white wines all have different personalities, and the only red wine produced by the wine estate, Mondeuse, is a rare gem.
Today, the estate is being taken over by the young and talented Vincent Ruiz, who trained with Franck Balthazar. Domaine du Gringet's cuvées are in line with Dominique Belluard's style.
A new page is being turned, but the new owner is highly talented and will do everything in his power to make Gringet one of the finest grape varieties in the world, just as his illustrious predecessor did.
