Long description

Elisabetta Foradori is undoubtedly one of the great ladies of Italian wine. Celebrated the world over for having, among other things, established her famous Teroldego in the pantheon of great red wines, made from the rare and ancient Teroldego grape variety, long forgotten and capable of producing racy wines with a longevity at least equal to that of the greatest Bordeaux wines.

In the heart of the Dolomites, on the right bank of the Adige river, Elisabetta took over from her father at a very young age. Within 20 years, she had made her mark on these clay-limestone terroirs overlooking the town of Trento, a style imbued with an immense respect for nature that her apprenticeship in biodynamic viticulture has only strengthened.

Respect for terroirs, respect for the place of the vine in its environment, respect for the integrity of the grape and the messages it has to deliver. Here, we seek and find authentic, genuine quality, practicing natural winemaking in concrete vats, followed by ageing in old acacia tuns with as little intervention as possible.

For whites, Elisabetta has chosen to work with Manzoni Bianco, a genetic cousin of Rhenish Riesling and Pinot Blanc, from the Fontanasanta hills. In addition to its great ageing potential, it shares with the former the extraordinary ability to convey the nuances of the terroir, and with the latter its highly aromatic fruitiness. Nosiola, also found on the Fontanasanta hills, is an ancient Trentino grape variety that was once widespread throughout the region. It expresses itself with finesse, producing wines of great longevity.

Teroldego dominates red wines, with very different identities depending on the cuvée. The Morei vineyards are located in the heart of Campo Rotaliano, on a soil composed of alluvium and pebbles. Fermentation takes place in amphora on skins for 8 months. This is a vibrant, mineral wine of great elegance, masterfully asserting itself year after year. Sgarzon is a predominantly sandy terroir that reveals an extraordinary freshness, a wine of great ageing potential that expresses great complexity after 10 to 15 years of cellaring.
