Sgarzon "Cilindrica" Teroldego from the Elisabetta Foradori wine estate is a singular cuvée that embodies the essence of the Teroldego grape variety and the unique terroir of Trentino, Italy. This wine reflects the wine estate's commitment to biodynamic practices and artisan winemaking, offering an authentic and refined expression of this native variety.
Philippe Mischler sommelier at Mundovin: The term "Sgarzon" means "branch" in the local dialect, referring to the young shoots of the vine. The grapes used for this cuvée come from a 2.5-hectare plot on the Campo Rotaliano plateau, at the foot of the Dolomites. This vineyard is characterized by sandier soil and more open exposure, which means that the grapes ripen about a week later than in other plots on the wine estate. These conditions give the wine a particular finesse and energy.
On the nose, the bouquet is complex and seductive, revealing aromas of ripe red fruits such as red plum and blackcurrant, accompanied by floral notes of violet. Spicy, earthy nuances, reminiscent of wild spices and damp earth, add a further dimension.
On the palate, Sgarzon "Cilindrica" stands out for its elegance and freshness. The structure is dynamic, with dense, pleasant tannins that add tension. Red fruit flavors mingle harmoniously with mineral and spicy touches, offering a rich, balanced taste experience. The finish is persistent, leaving an impression of purity and vitality.
