Wine Description

Julien en Billat - L'Enfant terrible du Sud du Domaine Ganevat is the only red cuvée to be produced in 2024, following severe frost damage in the Jura and the resulting low harvest. It blends Pinot Noir from all the wine estate's terroirs with native varieties such as Poulsard and Trousseau. On these hillsides between Vercia, Grusse and Rotalier, the vines grow in marl soils with a few veins of schist. This cuvée is vinified in whole bunches with semi-carbonic cold maceration, to preserve its freshness and fruitiness.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: As so often with Jean François Ganevat, the frost constrains and the winemaker's gesture sublimates. The result is sensual, harmonious and infinitely delicate. Slight aeration reveals all its fleshy, earthy dimension, carried by an airy élan filled with freshness.

The nose is immediately expressive, revealing crisp red fruit aromas with accents of fresh cherry, raspberry and redcurrant. Floral notes and a subtle hint of spice add to the bouquet with aeration.

On the palate, the wine is charmingly full-bodied, with bright fruit and subtle, well-integrated hints of herbs. The tannic structure fades behind the vitality of the material, whose spicy relief continues long into the finish.
