Wine Description

Both Clos de Venise and Clos de la Bretonnière are parcels originally in the Vouvray appellation, but reclassified as Vin de France for purely administrative reasons. The subsoil of the vineyard is composed of tuffeau, the white chalk typical of Vouvray. On the surface, clay and flint give the wine its mineral character. This cuvée can be produced dry, semi-dry or sweet, depending on the winemaker's wishes. For this vintage, however, it is produced exclusively as a dry wine.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: When Jacky Blot decides to make wine, whatever the appellation, what he does is sublime. Indeed, this wine offers a unique definition of terroir and reveals a unique saline character. Another wine estate success story from La Taille aux Loups, which just keeps getting better and better. The Clos de Venise cuvée is highly representative of the winemaking style of the winemaker. Jacky Blot is always on the lookout for depth and complexity.

On the nose, the stony character is revealed, the notion of minerality really comes through, the terroir speaks for itself 100%. The combination of tuffeau and flint gives this wine radiance and great energy. This is a truly invigorating wine, to be drunk at its peak drinking after 3-4 years in bottle and more for lovers of evolved wines.

On the palate, it's insanely precise, with tension building from the mid-palate, bringing depth and elegance. The finish is marked by iodine and salt notes, giving this wine real complexity.
