Roc d'Anglade 's Reserva Especial N°13 cuvée brings to life the Spanish tradition of blending several vintages, known as Soléra, dear to Rémy Pédréno. This blend of local grape varieties, including Carignan, Mourvèdre, Grenache Noir, Syrah and Cinsault, is aged in oak casks for different lengths of time, depending on the year of harvest: 6 months for the youngest vintages, up to 54 months for the oldest. Once the vintages have been blended, a second bottle-ageing is carried out for 12 months, to allow the osmosis between the vintages to develop.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Roc d'Anglade's Reserva Especial N13 is Languedoc at its most ambitious and singular. Rémy Pédréno has created an anthology cuvée, the result of long reflection and meticulous, long-term work. Blending vintages like composing a score is unusual in the South, and the result surpasses all expectations!
The intensity and complexity of the nose are breathtaking, with scents of undergrowth, wild berries, licorice, black fruit jelly, noble spices and leather. Aeration underlines the wine's remarkable evolution, and the incredible harmony that reigns between all its aromatic strata.
On the palate, the silky texture reveals both character and delicacy. Ripe, mellow tannins, perfectly balanced acidity that tempers the intensity of candied, spicy flavors, all combine to forge a truly exceptional wine, whose exceptionally long finish reveals empyreumatic notes that coat the palate with their marvelous complexity.
