Wine Description

Le Verger du Domaine Luneau-Papin is without doubt the most accessible version of Muscadet. Planted over twenty years ago on southeast-facing slopes of schist and micaschist , the vines of the Melon de Bourgogne variety deliver here a direct and legible expression of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine. The straightforwardness and precision of Muscadet Le Verger owe nothing to chance: this wine is the fruit of meticulous organic and biodynamic farming, careful hand-harvesting, natural and purified winemaking, and over a year's ageing on fine lees in vitrified underground vats, without racking before bottling. Each vintage tells the story of a wine estate that, generation after generation, succeeds in revealing the finesse of Muscadet.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Le Verger du Domaine Luneau-Papin is the archetype of an ideal first encounter with Muscadet Sèvre et Maine. The immediate, welcoming character of the Melon de Bourgogne grape is here endowed with mineral depth and extra structure, underlining Domaine Luneau Papin 's mastery of revealing their schist terroir. It's a wine that can be enjoyed straight away, perfect for accompanying seafood dishes, but which also has the delicacy and length on the palate needed to evolve over two or three years.

On the nose, Le Muscadet Verger opens with bright, clean lemon zest, green apple and a touch of white peach. In the background, we detect a hint of white flowers and a discreet imprint of chalk and wet stone. The sensation of freshness that emerges suggests a tasting marked by schist terroir.

On the palate, fine acidity endows the wine with immediate tension, as structuring as it is refreshing. Lemon, apple and pear flesh stand out clearly in the fluid, delicately chalky body, which adds texture without excess. The finish is marked by a mineral salinity that lengthens the finish, while fine, salivating bitters invite you to prolong the tasting.
