Roagna’s 2011 Barolo Pira is a pure Piedmont Nebbiolo , sourced from a single vineyard in Castiglione Falletto, aged for five years in neutral barrels following sixty to seventy days of maceration: dried rose, cherry, licorice, and a salty, lingering finish. Among the great Italian reds that Mundovin carefully selects, this one stands out for its integrity and its aging potential through 2036.

Another country known for terroir-driven wines that you can count on—simply because it offers magnificent discoveries and the styles of its wines are sure to appeal to you. Piedmont, Tuscany, Sicily, and Abruzzo amaze us with the quality of their wines. While some wines, such as Barolo, require long aging, many are very approachable when young and offer exceptional freshness and drinkability. Italy boasts highly diverse terroirs and a vast array of grape varieties, which allows us to find absolutely spectacular gems at every price point.
Although we’ve fallen in love with the incredibly refined “Super Tuscan”—none other than Sassicaia—our selection is also, and above all, built around wines from lesser-known winemakers. In our view, the exceptional should always go hand in hand with the accessible, with excellence as our guiding principle.
