Domaine de l'Ecu's cuvée Méphisto is one of the wine estate's micro-cuvées made from Cabernet Franc. The vines are planted on a predominantly granite terroir, which lends great finesse and elegance to this cuvée. It's a flattering, aromatic and pleasing wine that doesn't need long ageing. Its ageing in old barrels and amphoras means it can be enjoyed very quickly.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Méphisto du domaine de l'Ecu is one of the great revelations of the moment. This cuvée, aged for 15 months in an underground cellar with no added sulphur, gave me some very fine tasting experiences. Biodynamic viticulture plays a major role in the wine's aromatic expression and energy.

On the nose, it's as delicate as the terroir. There's a lot of greediness, with notes of ripe fruit such as blackcurrant, black cherry and fig, always very subtle.

The palate is already very supple, with silky tannins and incomparable juiciness. The spicy notes of the Cabernet Franc blend perfectly with the more mineral notes of the granite terroir. An exemplary red wine for Muscadet terroirs.
