Trigone blanc n°23 du Soula is, like its red sister, a cuvée in a class of its own in the Roussillon winegrowing landscape. Located in the cool heights of Fenouillèdes, in the north of the department, this pioneering biodynamic wine estate was founded by Gérard Gauby, with a clear ambition: to reveal the region's winemaking potential far from clichés. Now run by Wendy Wilson, Le Soula continues to explore this path with rigor and sensitivity. Trigone blanc n°23 is one of the most faithful expressions of this commitment: a non-vintage wine, made from a blend of several years, which expresses the red thread of the wine estate beyond the seasons. The parcel-by-parcel work on the Macabeu, Malvoisie and Grenache Blanc grape varieties, as well as the freedom to blend between vintages, make this cuvée a strong marker of the Le Soula style. A must-have for those looking for deep, airy Roussillon whites rooted in respectful viticulture.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Trigone blanc is a masterful UFO, reflecting the remarkable work of Wendy Wilson and her team. I admire their consistency in this cuvée, which cleverly blends parcels of Macabeu, Malvoisie du Roussillon and Grenache Blanc. There's a remarkable coherence, an assertive style and real drinkability.
On the nose, the wine opens with a bouquet of fresh pear, lemon zest and white flowers. Hints of sweet almond and floral honey appear with aeration, adding an extra dimension.
The palate is straightforward, full-bodied and well-balanced, with a fluid texture that retains a beautiful freshness. The aromas of the nose are repeated, served by a remarkable balance between roundness and acidity. The clean, digestible, mineral finish prolongs the tasting experience with delight.
