Wine Description
Michel Bouzereau et Fils ' Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes Dessus comes from the southern slopes of the village of Meursault, on the upper part of the climat of the same name, reputed to be the highest quality. Covering an area of 50 ares, bordered by the famous Combettes to the north and the mythical Perrières to the east, the Chardonnay vines, some of which are over 60 years old, are rooted in typical Burgundy clay-limestone soils. Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils nurtures its vines using reasoned vineyard practices, and harvests exclusively by hand. The natural fermentation of the grapes precedes precision ageing, carried out for this cuvée in barrels, a quarter of which are new, for 16 to 18 months. The result faithfully reflects the identity of the terroir of Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes: fullness, purity and balance.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes Dessus from Domaine Michel Bouzereau et Fils reveals the rigor and patience that characterize our wine estate. Its depth and complexity make it a model of harmony, among the best expressions of the Meursault Charmes 1er Cru climate. Subtle ageing supports a Chardonnay of rare nobility, whose ageing potential is beyond doubt.
On the nose, the wine immediately captivates with complex aromas of yellow fruit, candied citrus and white flowers. As the bouquet evolves in the glass, pastry notes and delicate spiciness emerge, while a chalky mineral background adds a touch of tension.
On the palate, the wine combines intensity and finesse with remarkable sensuality. The wine unfurls an impressive volume of juicy yellow fruit, candied citrus, acacia flowers and beeswax. The caressing, fluid texture glides across the palate, led by a slender acidity that tautens the whole with the elegance typical of Burgundy Chardonnay . The slightly chalky finish is adorned with noble bitters, and leaves the taste buds vibrating for a long time with perfectly-tuned tension.
