Il Frappato d'Arianna Occhipinti was born in south-eastern Sicily. The vines, the oldest of which are over half a century old, are planted between 280 and 300 meters above sea level, cultivated on the sandy limestone soils of the Iblei mountains at an altitude of almost 300 meters. Arianna Occhipinti manages the vineyard according to biodynamic principles, with precise tillage of the soil and constant attention to natural balances. The wine is aged in large oak barrels, the famous 500-liter botti , to preserve the expression of fruit and terroir.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: With Il Frappato, Arianna Occhipinti offers an almost Burgundian vision of this emblematic grape variety, between finesse and noble concentration. Working at altitude and seeking the right ripeness give birth to a cuvée that reveals the freshness and uniqueness of Sicily's mountain terroirs, far from the sunny profiles often associated with the region. A Frappato of nuance and delicacy!

The nose reveals tangy notes of fresh raspberry and crisp redcurrant, to which a slight earthiness typical of Frappato adds complexity. After generous aeration, given the vintage's youth, the wine exudes a disconcerting concentration and freshness.

On the palate, the wine is silky and fresh, with relief provided by well-integrated natural acidity. Crunchy red fruit flavors are accompanied by a fine herbal touch and a discreet minerality, rare in red wines from this region. The persistent finish calls for a second sip!
